Daihatsu announces its trio of concepts for the Tokyo Motor Show

The e:S appears to be the most 'normal' of the trio, being a three door hatchback with styling reminiscent of the Toyota iQ. The extended front bonnet gives it the impression of a more conventional car. Daihatsu says that the e:S has a 2175mm wheelbase and weighs 700kg in total. Power comes from a 660cc 3-cylinder engine with a start-stop system that gives a fuel consumption figure of 30km per litre of fuel.

Based on the Mira, the Basket concept is a four-seater that comes with all-wheel-drive. It features a removable two-part roof, a hard top up front and a canvas soft top for the rear. There is also a deck behind the rear seats that can accommodate things like dirty tools without scratching or dirtying the paintwork.

Finally, the Deca Deca is a boxy people mover and utility vehicle, with the focus on the latter part. The interior is highly flexible and can be rearranged to accommodate all sorts of requirements. Other features that contribute to the Deca Deca's flexibility include a flat floor design, slim fold-away seats that can be laid out in various positions and patterns, and pillar-less, side-by-side doors for easy ingress, while cabin space for passengers are of MPV-like proportions. The Deca Deca is powered by a 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that sends power to the front wheels via the CVT transmission.
