BMW has officially announced the X4 M40i, its new addition to the Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segment and the latest model in BMW's M Performance line, which will be available from Febuary 2016.
The latest model offers a myriad of upgrades over the existing X4, the key of which sits under the bonnet. A newly developed M Performance TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine makes its world premiere in the X4 M40i, delivering 355bhp and 465Nm of torque. It allows the car to do the 0-100km/h sprint in a best-in-class time of just 4.7 seconds.
Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a recalibrated xDrive system that is rear wheel biased. Being an M Performance model, the chassis and suspension has been appropriately tuned as well, with increased camber, stiffer springs, reinforced stabilisers front and rear, and active dampers.
Styling wise, M performance detailing is peppered throughout, with exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with optional Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres and the sport exhaust system with valve control. M leather wrapped steering wheel, M gear shift lever, sports seats, model-specific door sills and 'X4 M40i' digital lettering on the instrument cluster decorate the interior as well. With an array of BMW ConnectedDrive options on offer, including a full-color head-up display, the new BMW X4 M40i also provides all the benefits that result from comprehensively networking the driver, vehicle and the environment.
