Volkswagen has revealed the first details of the upcoming new Amarok.
The truck is described as sporting a charismatic exterior, with a straight bonnet alongside horizontal, upper radiator grille crossbars flanked by integrated, narrow LED head lights.
And at the rear, it will get a wide tailgate, framed by the standard LED rear lights, with the word 'Amarok' embossed across the tailgate's full width.
The Volkswagen Amarok now comes in at a total length now standing at 5,350mm, making it at least 100mm longer than its predecessor. The new truck's wheelbase has also grown by 175mm, making space for passengers in the double cab. And in the cargo bed, Volkswagen states the Amarok will offer enough space between the wheel arches for a euro pallet to be loaded in sideways and strapped in to robust lashing rings.
The cabin meanwhile, is said to sport a digital cockpit and tablet-style infotainment display, along with a high-quality appearance. An exclusive sound system, and elegant leather-look surfaces of the instrument panel and door panels with distinctive decorative stitching are said to be offered as options, while wide, electric, 10-way adjustable seats will also be available as an option here.
Volkswagen states that the new Amarok will be available at launch with one petrol and up to four different diesel engine options, ranging from four to six cylinders and with a cubic capacity of 2.0 to 3.0 litres. The truck will be available optionally with rear-wheel drive, or on-demand as well as permanent all-wheel drive.
