Honda Brio launched for developing markets

The car is based on the Brio concept car that Honda previewed last year, and measures 3,610 mm long and 1,680 mm wide, making it 290mm shorter than the Jazz super mini and only 1 centimetre narrower. The Brio is targeted at emerging car markets such as Thailand, China and India.

Under the bonnet, the Brio is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine taken from the Jazz, which produces 90bhp and is mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT transmission. Fuel consumption is quoted at 4 litres per 100km, while the Brio also meets the latest Euro 4 emissions standards.

The Brio models that will be sold in Thailand will come with features such as two front airbags, disc brakes, ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), while cars sold in India will have slightly different specifications tailored to the market needs.
