Honda presents the Civic Si Coupe and Sedan concepts at Detroit

"The Civic is known for providing a balance of 'just-right' packaging, fun-to-drive character and outstanding fuel economy, at a price that even first-time buyers can afford," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The redesigned Civic builds on this legacy and promises to be the best Civic yet."

The styling of the new Civic is more evolutionary over the current one, and the concepts are expected to be strongly similar to the production Civics which will be revealed by Honda in a couple of months. The Civic Si Coupe concept includes aggressive design details such as the tapered rear roofline, more angular front fascia and several unique parts including rear air diffuser, a centre-mounted exhaust outlet and a rear deck lid spoiler with dual vents.

Honda has not released many details about the production Civic, but has mentioned there will be hybrid and natural-gas variants of the new Civic. Honda added that the new Civic Hybrid will be the first production Honda hybrid to feature a lithium ion battery cell powering Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system, while the Eco-Assist system will be available in most upcoming Civic models.
