Honda reveals the Skydeck concept at the Tokyo Motor Show

The Skydeck concept measures 4.6 metres in length, and is a six-seater hybrid MPV with a "sporty and clean design," while providing a large amount of cargo space. The Skydeck will be on display at Honda's show stand at the Tokyo Motor Show, and although Honda has denied that it will put the Skydeck into production, rumours abound that the Skydeck could form the base for the next generation Honda FR-V.

The interior of the Skydeck features a fold-down third-row bench seat, to provide cavernous cargo room. The second row of seats can be slid forward and backwards through motorised controls to further maximise space. The dashboard is designed such that the instrument panel and steering wheel juts out in front of the driver, liberalising more space for the front passenger. A huge dual-pane sunroof provides sunlight for the occupants of the first two rows, while front scissor doors and rear sliding doors provide greater access to the vehicle.

The Skydeck has a low floor and wide and sporty stance, similar to the Odyssey MPV. The roofline flows backwards smoothly into the rear spoiler, and the sporty look is further enhanced with the steeply raked windscreen. The front end also gets a bulging hood, slanted headlights and honeycomb grille, while cameras have replaced the wing mirrors.
