Infiniti has unveiled a new compact and lightweight 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine, the most advanced V6 petrol engine that the brand has ever offered, striking an ideal balance between driveability, efficiency, and performance.
The 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine is from the new and exclusive 'VR' powertrain family, born out of the brand's longstanding heritage of V6 powertrain production. The new engine has been engineered to empower the driver and offer increased power and torque and higher levels of efficiency than any comparable predecessors. The engine is available in two performance levels: the high-output version delivers 400bhp and 475Nm of torque, while the 300bhp version produces 400Nm of torque. The engineers have also developed a water-cololed intercooler system to improve performance and efficiency.
The engine's reduced weight and contained size is credited, in part, to lighter and more compact cylinder blocks. The result is greater mechanical efficiency, while a series of new features and in-house innovations offer superior performance.
The new engine is due to enter production during 2016 and will be manufactured at the company's powertrain plant in Iwaki, Fukushima, Japan. Selected Infiniti models will be equipped with the all new 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo from 2016 onwards.
