You've probably already read about the new Toyota RAV4 being launched in the U.S.A, but fret not - we have gotten confirmation from a reliable source that the new RAV4 will also make its way to us really soon!
Showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the new Toyota RAV4 has gotten a new face, featuring the brand's latest 'Hammerhead' styling. With its C-shaped head lights and sloping front grille, the RAV4 now looks rather similar to the other recent Toyota models that has been designed with the same language.
This new RAV4 will be the sixth generation that embodies the concept of 'Robust Accurate Vehicle with 4 Wheel Drive', which is what the name stands for. For the latest generation, the unique driving experience of the RAV4 has been further improved, featuring a newly developed hybrid system that enhances acceleration.
While the new RAV4 comes in both PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid) and HEV (Hybrid) variants, it has been confirmed that we will be getting it with the HEV powertrain. Toyota highlighted an improvement in motor output due to improvements to the transaxle, power control unit, battery and other components. The updated drivetrain in the new RAV4 is expected to provide agility off the line, responsiveness and seamless acceleration.
While there is no information on the specific output and engine capacity of the new RAV4, the variant that we will be getting is expected to be equipped with all-wheel drive, making it a capable SUV.
Inside, the RAV4's cabin has been designed with functionality and ease-of-use in mind. By lowering the top surface of the instrument panel by around 40mm, the new RAV4 promises outstanding visibility in the driver seat.
While the new RAV4 features a fully-digital driver's display, and a substantially sized infotainment touchscreen, it has retained physical temperature controls for the air-con, along with an actual knob on the infotainment. This once again, showcases the brand's emphasis on functionality. Another update within the interior can be found on the centre console - the gear knob has been replaced with a much smaller, shift-by-wire toggle, much like what you see in recent Volkswagen vehicles, allowing more effective use of space and a minimalistic cabin.
According to Toyota, the new RAV4 uses, for the first time, the Arene software development platform, which is newly developed by Woven by Toyota, Inc. This platform includes a new-generation multimedia system with customisable home screen, with faster and more accurate voice recognition, along with the latest Toyota Safety Sense package that includes new features such as Sudden Acceleration Suppression.
Also showcased at the Japan Mobility Show is the sporty-looking RAV4 GR Sport Prototype, which has a sporty styling that reminds of the GR Yaris, along with the off-road centric RAV4 Adventure that features high and low range transmission functions for improved off-roadability. However, it seems like the standard RAV4 is the only confirmed variant that will make its way to Singapore for now.
The new Toyota RAV4 is expected to be showcased at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show early next year, so those interested can look forward to get a closer look at the car, and learn more about it soon.
