Toyota updates the GR86 in the U.S.A

Toyota has updated its GR86 for the 2027 model year in the U.S.A.

The car is now available in a new 'Thunder' exterior colour - a solid grey that is said to accentuate the sculpted body of the GR86.

But there's more substantial changes underneath. The car now sports a refined throttle calibration, said to deliver a more linear response. The chamfer of the shifter interlock between 4^th and 5^th gear has also been widened slightly to deliver a smoother shift feel.

Toyota is also now offering the GR86 in the U.S.A with a Cockpit Red interior that comes with black Ultrasuede and red leather accents on the side bolsters, red floor mats, and red door accents. Not a fan of red? There's also a black interior option that finishes the cabin in black Ultrasuede and black leather-trimmed upholstery alongside black stitching.

Toyota adds that the recognition range of the car's stereo camera has been nearly doubled to improve detection of preceding vehicles when using cruise control. A monocular camera has also been added to help detect nearby objects at intersections.

The car continues to make use of a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre engine delivering 228bhp in the U.S.A, which allows the car to sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 6.1 seconds. The car is also offered with an optional Performance Package, which adds a set of Brembo Brakes and Sachs dampers.
