Kia America has unveiled the new EV4 Sedan at the New York International Auto Show.
Following the reveal of the exterior design of the car in February 2025, the firm has now revealed that the EV4 will make use of a 400V version of the E-GMP Electric Global Modular Platform.
Customers will be able to choose between two battery options when they build their car, with a standard 58.3kWh battery being offered alongside an 81.4kWh battery for the 'Wind' and 'GT-Line' variants.
Both these battery options will make use of a 150kW (201bhp) electric motor that powers the front axle in the front-wheel drive 'Light' and 'Wind' variants of the EV4, which will deliver a Kia-estimated range of 378km and 531km respectively. Kia has yet to offer official output figures for the 'GT-Line' EV4.
Kia states that this range has been made possible in part thanks to the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. Drag coefficient for the Kia EV4 is quoted at 0.23.
The cabin of the Kia EV4 will make use of dual 12.3-inch screens as well as a 5.0-inch climate display
And when that range is depleted, the Kia EV4 will be able to charge up from a 10% to an 80% state-of-charge in 29 minutes when equipped with the 58.3kWh battery and in 31 minutes when equipped with the 81.4kWh battery. Cars sold in the U.S.A will come equipped with an NACS charging port located on the front passenger side of the vehicle.
The car makes use of a MacPherson strut design and a multi-link system at the rear, to deliver what is claimed to be a high level of ride comfort alongside engaging driving dynamics. The cabin of the Kia EV4 will also come equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens on top of a 5.0-inch climate display (forming what the firm is naming its 'connected car Navigation Cockpit').
This system can receive over-the-air updates, and is further described as being a high watermark for the in-car content experience that it can deliver to users. It will also house Kia's A.I. assistant, which makes use of machine learning to allow what is claimed to be organic interaction and greater voice recognition between driver and vehicle.
U.S.A market-bound examples of the Kia EV4 are set to be produced at Kia's Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in South Korea and sales of the car in the U.S.A are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026.
