Lamborghini CEO dismisses Aventador GT rumours

The Lamborghini Aventador roadster is indeed in the works, and the folding roof will be more practical than its Murcielago predecessor or the Aventador J bespoke supercar. However, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has dismissed the rumours of a GT variant of the mighty Aventador.
Speaking to Autocar during the Sao Paulo motor show, he explained there are lots of plans for the Aventador but putting two extra seats in front of the V12 was an idea that never made it past the drawing board. Ferrari once tried a similar concept with the mid-engined 308 GT4 in 1973, but did not see much success, and apparently Lotus is currently experimenting the idea with the Evora.
Also at the event Mr Winkelmann revealed Lamborghini still hasn't received a green light for its Urus SUV by parent company VW Group. Though Lamborghini is still working on the Urus, Mr Winkelmann is clearly waiting for a sign from the VW group.
"We hope a decision would have been taken by now, but the go-no-go will understandably be taken at Group level," he explains. Experts familiar with the matter claim the delay is connected to the ongoing European crisis, as reported earlier.
