LTA kicks off inaugural Bus Safety Roadshow
27 Aug 2025|103 views
The inaugural Bus Safety Roadshow, which was jointly organised by the LTA and the Ministry of Transport, took place at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub atrium on 23 to 24 August 2025.
This roadshow was one of the Bus Safety Tripartite Taskforce's (BSTT) recommendations to raise awareness and promote public bus safety among commuters and road users. Members of the public attending the roadshow can look forward to exhibition booths and presentations on safety tips for bus passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. They can also take part in interactive activities and experience driving a bus via a bus simulator.
Also, in line with the BSTT's recommendations, the "BC Drive Safe" refresher programme will be increased from three to five sessions a week by the end of 2025, allowing more bus captains to attend and benefit from this refresher programme. The minimum duration of bus captains' meal breaks will also be progressively extended to 30 minutes in the next few years.
Beyond the roadshow, LTA has been actively collaborating with agencies such as the Traffic Police to promote safe commuting practices. This includes publicity efforts via awareness posters, social media campaigns, and engagement with schools.
