LTA to give more priority to buses with more bus lanes and special bays

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will work to gives buses more priority on the roads by expanding two measures.

Starting from the middle of this month, it will add another 25km to the existing bus lane network, including new ones along 13 selected roads, such as Sembawang Road, Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 and Bedok North Ave 3.

The LTA added that these roads were chosen because there are high numbers of buses plying along them, hence the implementation of new bus lanes.

In addition, the LTA will also implement the Mandatory Give Way to Buses scheme at 135 more bus bays from next month November.

Currently, there are 23km of full day bus lanes and 155km of normal bus lanes. When the new implementations are completed, there will be up to 200km of bus lanes in Singapore. The new bus lanes will operate under the normal bus lane scheme, which is between  7:30am and 9:30am, and 5:00pm to 8:00pm - only on weekdays.
