McLaren GT planning to move to new base

Being closer to McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive presents the McLaren GT team to share resources, technology and exchange ideas with designers and engineers. The one stop 60,000 sq ft facility will provide admin and workshop space, test bays, and an engine development centre. Each team also has the opportunity to test vehicle set-ups using simulators used by McLaren Racing.
Andrew Kirkaldy, Project Director for McLaren GT, commented: "I am excited that McLaren GT will be establishing our operations so close to the home of McLaren Racing. We have a new race car that comprises a unique package of Formula 1-inspired technology, and we are working with customers to ensure the potential performance of the 12C GT3 is realised this season.”
He also mentioned there are plans to produce multiple specifications of race cars for worldwide racing in 2013.
New race car manufacturer McLaren GT has announced plans to form a dedicated engineering and vehicle assembly facility close to its parent company’s headquarters in Woking, southern England. The news comes a year after the McLaren 12C GT3 made its racing debut, as part of an intensive development programme. McLaren GT was launched in early 2011, and has supplied 25 cars for racing in Europe this year for 13 customer teams.
