McLaren Automotive has revealed what it describes is its most ambitious and exacting bespoke livery ever: The 3-7-59 Theme.
The theme was designed as a tribute to McLaren's unique 'Triple Crown' of victories (that is, victory at the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans), and was revealed on a McLaren 750S by McLaren Formula One Driver Lando Norris, McLaren IndyCar Driver Pato O'Ward, and former McLaren Formula One Driver Derek Bell.
The theme is said to have taken a total of 1,200 hours to paint, and only a total of six customer cars (each with a unique variation) will be made, all either a 750S coupe or Spider, all of which have already been sold.
If you're wondering, those numbers are a reference to the race numbers won the be victorious cars in each of the Triple Crown victories. The cars sport a white and red livery at the front was well as the '7' race number on the bonnet, inspired by the McLaren MP4/2.
On the sides, the 3-7-59 Theme pays homage to the Le Mans winning McLaren F1 GTR with its use of grey and the '59' race number, as well as the bright green dot which denotes a car's participation in the GT1 class of the 24-hour race.
Moving to the rear third of the car, the theme mirrors the orange colour of the 1974 McLaren M16D that won the Indy 500, with the transition from the grey done via a swirling chequered flag effect. And the other side of the car, a striking blue 'splash' inspired by the colour of the race number of the McLaren M16D features, which utilises four shades of blue to give it a three-dimensional look. The theme also gets Satin Black Vortex alloy wheels, which shroud alternating brake callipers which are finished in blue, red, and Le Mans Gold.
Also featuring on the theme are three QR codes, each of which provides a lice portal to a webpage detailing the car. While at the rear, an electrochromic MSO logo illuminates within the brake light mounted on the underside of the airbrake.
The cars also come with an interior that gets Triple Crown logos in McLaren Orange stitched into the headrests of the carbon fibre racing seats. The seats feature further Triple Crown art that is etched in graphite Alcantara and are finished with white contrast stitching. This logo also appears as a debossed item on the centre armrest.
The artwork that appears on the seats is also mirror on the carbon fibre door trim, while the painted 12 o'clock marker on the steering wheel rim and hand-painted extended carbon fibre shift paddle are inspired by the theme's red and white 'shattered' paintwork.
