The CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake variants are given a performance upgrade like its E-Class siblings. The AMG 'S' variant boasts the 4MATIC all‑wheel drive and is powered by the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine - good for 585bhp and 800Nm of torque. The rear-wheel-drive variant is powered at 557bhp and 720Nm of torque with the 4MATIC offered as an option.

Ola Kallenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, claims, "With its superlative power and torque ratings and the new performance oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the CLS 63 AMG is without parallel in its Coupe and Shooting Brake variants. Our AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine remains the most efficient series production V8 engine in the world. The new, customised model variants provide greater scope than ever for individual solutions."
The world premiere for the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake took place during the Formula 1 German Grand Prix 2012 - essentially a 'stationwagon' that combines performance with style and utility value. The CLS AMG S could hit century speeds in just 3.6 seconds before reaching the electronically limited speeds of 250km/h.
All CLS 63 AMG models feature the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension. The front axle features a steel-spring, while the rear feature an air suspension system - which can be adjusted to drivers preference via a button in the cabin marked. The CLS 63 AMG wears the standard triple-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels finished in titanium grey while the S-Model wears an exclusive 10-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in matt titanium grey.
The CLS 63 AMG S-Model can be identified from the rest with striking brake callipers finished in red painted and the famed AMG logo on the rear sporting an 'S' in contrasting black. The revised AMG instrument cluster also feature an 'S AMG' logo.
The rear-wheel driven CLS 63 AMG will be available from April, with its all-wheel drive equipped CLS 63 AMG and the CLS 63 AMG S-Model to follow in June.

Not only is the V8 biturbo potent, it also offers high performance amidst low fuel consumptions among its competitors in its class. For example, the 557bhp capable 63 AMG needs almost 10L/100km while the 585bhp with 4MATIC needs a slightly higher figure of 10.6L/100km while emitting 248g/CO2.
