Mercedes reveals E 63 AMG now with 4MATIC and more power
12 Jan 2013|5,464 views
The new E 63 AMG 4MATIC is largely based on the facelifted E-Class but there are certain design elements that marks it as an AMG model. Dominating design features include the AMG 'twin blade' radiator grille and the air intakes dubbed the 'A-wing.'
The new air intake spreads across the width of the vehicle and is painted in the body colour with silver chrome highlight strip. Black trims on the side air inlets ensure optimal airflow to the cooling modules while the contrasting convex and concave surfaces are joined to the widened fenders where a 'V8 BITURBO' badge assures the superiority of the engine.
The 5.5-litre AMG V8 Biturbo is capable of delivering 557bhp and 720Nm of torque while a more powerful S Model with 585bhp and 800Nm of torque is also available. The E 63 AMG will also feature a performance oriented 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with a rear heavy 33:67 percent front to rear axle power distribution. The AMG is capable of accelerating to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds before hitting the electronically limited top speed of 299km/h (for the S-Model).
The E 63 AMG 4MATIC wears 10-spoke AMG alloys finished in titanium grey while the S comes with 10-spoke alloys painted in matte titanium grey with rim flanges.
The interior features grey highlights and silver seat belts that contrast the black interior. The flat top and bottom steering wheel has an Alcantara grip area, while the head restraints for the front seats are embossed with AMG crests. The AMG instrument cluster has also been redesigned and the S features an 'S AMG' logo on the speedometer with striking red needles.
