MotoGP gets new BMW M5 safety car

The BMW M5 is now set to do duty as a safety car for MotoGP, after having just made its premiere in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

You should know this by now, but to reiterate, this M5 will keep motorcyclists reined in thanks to its 4.4-litre V8 engine paired with the firm's M Hybrid technology, allowing the sedan to deliver a total 717bhp output, which is put to the road via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive.

But of course, this special safety cars comes with a host of additional goodies including a special graffiti-inspired livery and a host of BMW M performance Parts including an aramid rear diffuser, carbon side skirts, carbon-titanium tailpipe trims, and a carbon fuel filler cap.

And on the safety front, it gets a safety car roof bar, front splitter, Recaro seats, six-point racing harnesses, a fire extinguisher, and a fuel suction pump so it can be easily transported overseas.
