New Mitsubishi Outlander to compete in 2021 Rebelle Rally

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has announced it will enter a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander in this year's Rebelle Rally.

Along with the announcement comes a rendering of the vehicle that will contest the grueling all-women’s off-road navigational competition. The competition Outlander's special paint scheme pays tribute to a history-making Dakar Rally win 20 years ago, when Jutta Kleinschmidt drove a Mitsubishi Pajero to victory in 2001, becoming the only woman ever to win the world-famous Dakar Rally.

MMNA's participation in the Rebelle Rally started in 2019, when the brand partnered with Record the Journey (RTJ), a nonprofit dedicated to helping military veterans successfully transition to civilian life.

As part of MMNA's 'Small Batch - Big Impact' social-good programme, RTJ received an Eclipse Cross to compete in the Rebelle, finishing second in the CUV class with the event's first adaptive athlete - U.S.A Air Force veteran Karah Behrend - at the wheel.

In 2020, MMNA and RTJ again broke ground at the Rebelle, finishing third in a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle ever to complete the multi-day off-road navigation-focused event.

The 2021 Rebelle Rally is scheduled for 7 to 16 October 2021 and will cover more than 2,000km across the U.S.A states of Nevada and Southern California.
