25 Mar 2014|3,325 views
The Changi Airport Group (CAG) will build a new waiting area at Changi Airport to hold queuing taxis that are waiting to pick up passengers from Terminal 1 (T1). An additional second storey deck will be constructed on top of the existing taxi queue area with the aim to improve traffic flow and road safety on Airport Boulevard.
Currently, the taxi queue for T1 occupies the leftmost lane on Airport Boulevard during peak hours and can stretch up to 800 metres.
The new building, which costs $50 million, will alter the existing road network and allow up to three times more cabs to queue for passengers at T1. It will also provide shade and toilet facilities for cabbies in the queue.
