There is no turning away from electric - the invisible charge that many automakers deemed as the energy to drive their products in the future. Nissan, too, is riding the electric waves. And more recently, it adopted this technology for its new race car.

Nissan is reportedly using the ZEOD RC as a test mule to develop new electric drivetrain technologies for its future LMP1 racing program.
The groundbreaking ZEOD RC allows the driver to switch between electric power and a small lightweight turbocharged internal combustion engine. Sharing the same battery technology as the Nissan Leaf, the ZEOD RC will recharge its battery via regenerative braking.
The electric race car will be the first car to complete an entire lap of the 8.5-mile (approximately 13.7km) Le Mans circuit on pure electric power. The car is also capable of reaching top speeds in excess of 300km/h, and will complete the iconic race track faster than a LM GTE class car.
Fans of the car will be able to get up close with it at the Fuji paddock throughout the entire FIA World Endurance Championship weekend.

Dubbed the ZEOD RC, the zero emission on demand race car was unveiled at the Nismo headquarters in Yokohama. A mere 33 weeks were what the team took to complete the ZEOD - from February when Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn announced that the marque will return to next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans with electric power.
