Police employee accused of cheating in motor insurance scam

An employee of the Singapore Police Force is the latest to be charged in court over a motor insurance scam.
35-year old Ruhaima Sinin, who was working in the force as a Technical Support Officer, was charged with two counts of cheating for allegedly conspiring with her husband, 34-year old Mohamad Eznillah Mohamed Razali, in a staged accident.
Ruhaima was accused of making false claims to NTUC Income Insurance Co-operative, which amounted to $21,887.
The couple made an accident statement claiming that they were involved in a three-car collision along Sungei Kadut Drive at around 4:15pm on 9th October 2010. Ruhaima then filed a claim for property damage to a car registered under her name.
She also made a claim for personal injury, allegedly reporting that she was a passenger in the car when the accident happened.
Just last month ago, nine men were sentenced to jail for staging a road accident.
