The Panamera Diesel is powered by the Volkswagen Group’s 3.0-litre V6 TDI powerplant, which uses common rail direct injection technology and electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers (VGTs), and has been tuned by Porsche for optimum performance. The V6 engine produces 250bhp and 550Nm of torque, and is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission while a start/stop system comes as standard. The Panamera Diesel is also exclusively available in rear-wheel-drive only.
When fitted with standard tyres, the Porsche Panamera Diesel is able to return a fuel consumption figure of 6.5 litres per 100km. When low-rolling resistance tyres are used, the Panamera Diesel’s fuel consumption figure drops to 6.5 litres per 100km.
The Panamera Diesel’s 80-litre fuel tank is theoretically able to travel up to 1,200km between fill-ups. The car is also able to go from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds, before reaching its top speed of 242km/h. The Panamera Diesel will go on sale towards the end of 2011.
