The Panamera Diesel was first announced earlier this year, and the car will now be on show at Frankfurt, alongside the all-new 991-series 911 Coupe and Convertible. The diesel-powered Panamera is fitted with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 common-rail diesel powerplant that is sourced from Audi, and produces 250bhp and 550Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The result is that the Panamera Diesel is able to go from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 242km/h. But the biggest selling point of the Panamera Diesel is its low fuel consumption.
When fitted with standard tyres, the diesel model returns a combined fuel economy of 6.5 litres per 100 km) with CO2 emissions of 172g/km CO2, while these numbers drop to 6.3 litres per 100 km and 167g/km CO2 respectively, when fitted with low rolling resistance tyres.
