Porsche tuner RUF has made a comeback to our shores, this time round under the dealership of Specialised Automobiles. The brand was here in the 1990s under businessman Derek McCully's RUF Automobile, which sold only a handful of cars then.
Specialised Automobiles secured the local importer and distributor rights of the 75-year old brand at last year's Geneva Motor Show, and has sold three cars since. The next batch of four to five cars are arriving soon, and are already spoken for.
Speaking to The Straits Times, Managing Director Justin Tay said the firm is looking to set up a showroom at the Leng Kee automotive belt.
He added that they will be bringing in a range of RUF models, including the RT35 Anniversary Edition. Powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine, it is capable of 630bhp and 825Nm of torque - enough to propel the sports car to 100km/h in three seconds and onto a top speed of 338km/h.
Speaking about his sales target, Mr. Tay responded with a relatively modest expectation of 10 cars in the first year.
