The effected cars include the 2010 Chrysler Sebring & 300, the 2010 Dodge Challenger, Charger, Avenger, and Journey.
It seems that a pressurized power steering hose can separate at its crimped fitting. Presumably, spraying hydraulic fluid onto the hot engine. Which could cause a fire.
However, no actual fires have been reported.
According to Chrysler, their part supplier YH America, had changed the material that they used to manufacture the part. After they were unable to obtain the original material from Dupont.
The recalled vehicles were manufactured over a two month period, that ended in late August.
Owners are being asked to return the vehicles to their dealer, where they'll receive replacement hoses at no cost.
