25-year old Quek Zhen Hao was charged in court yesterday with two counts of driving rashly to endanger life, and one count of displaying threatening behaviour towards a woman driver, reported The Straits Times.
On the 28th of January, Quek was seen exiting his Honda Civic and approaching Ms. Goh Siok Ling with intent to cause her alarm and distress at the junction of Dairy Farm Road and Petir Road.
Minutes later, he allegedly swerved and abruptly cut into Ms. Goh's path - without signalling - and went on to apply his brakes three times. His actions triggered Ms. Goh to brake hard, in order to avoid a collision.
The next day, Quek apparently tailgated another woman, along Choa Chu Kang Road before cutting into the path of Ms. Chng Sor Hoon from the left without signalling. This resulted in Ms. Chng having to slam her brakes.
Videos of the above incidents have brought about more than 250,000 views, and netizens have slammed the way Quek drove and even went on to label the student a 'road bully'.
Quek indicated that he would plead guilty and the prosecution will proceed on the incident. He is not represented by a lawyer and will return to court on the 29th of May.
The maximum penalty for driving rashly to endanger life is a jail term of six months and a $1,000 fine, while the maximum penalty for displaying threating behaviour is a fine of $2,000.
