Skoda has announced that the construction of its new headquarters in Mlada Boleslav, the Laurin and Klement campus, has been completed. Skoda staff are set to begin working at the facility later in March 2024.
The new campus complex is said to have been crafted to foster interdepartmental collaboration amongst its users, while upholding the highest standards of sustainability. The building is additionally said to be a testament to Skoda's commitment to Mlada Boleslav and its heritage.
The new facility will see close to 2,000 of Skoda's staff migrating from what was previously roughly 20 buildings in Mlada Boleslav and Prague to a new five-storey facility which consists of four interconnected buildings designed to offer direct interaction across various departments and units.
More than just a workspace, the complex is equipped with amenities ranging from a restaurant and cafe, over 680 parking lots, 138 electric vehicle charging stations, and a bike storage facility. The complex also houses a modular conference area equipped with the latest audio-visual technology which can accommodate up to 400 people.
With the new campus, Skoda will introduce new work office concepts which are tailored to meet the demands of a modern workforce. The campus is divided into zones, each of which is designed with a range of needs and activities in mind. These spaces are further enhanced by cutting-edge technology.
Over 22,800m2 of net office space on the new campus will be used for desk sharing, the most distinctive feature of this modern work environment. Employees are now able to use flexible workspaces within their respective areas.
On top of conventional office zones, the Laurin and Klement campus also features various designated community areas. These spaces are designed to encourage networking, social interactions, discussions, and relaxation. A range of facilities, aimed at improving employee wellbeing, fostering creativity and enhancing employee's motivation are also available.
The Laurin and Klement campus is expected to receive a gold certificate from the German Sustainable building council. The campus sports a 222-panel photovoltaic system which boasts a peak power of 100kW. A host of technological innovations including the use of LED technology and smart light sensors will also reduce the energy consumption of the campus.
The building also features highly efficient ventilation systems which cool the premises overnight and an-air conditioning system with an 80% energy recovery rate. Rolling shutters have also been installed to shield the complex from sunlight. This further enhances the efficiency and reduces the building's cooling load by 30%.
