SM Motors, exclusive dealer for Volvo cars in Singapore, will be introducing new entry-level variants of S40, C30 and V50 cars to the public from March onwards.
There will be an addition of a new 2-litre, non turbocharged engine to the abovementioned model range, as well as Volvo's new 6-speed automatic transmission that operates via two clutches. Dubbed "Powershift," it is basically Volvo's answer to the venerable Direct Shift Gearbox from Volkswagen.
Powershift technology will reduce fuel consumption by up to eight percent in comparison with other automatic gearboxes, while the smooth operation, sharp response and low weight of the new engine contribute to a sporty yet harmonious drive, Volvo claims.
Prices start from $89,888 for the Volvo S40 2.0-litre variant equipped with the 6-speed "Powershift" automatic transmission.
