Special Mercedes-Benz 500SL heads to auction

A special 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500SL, previously owned by Sir. Stirling Moss OBE, is heading to auction come 19 June 2024.
The car is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic and comes with grey leather upholstery, specially ordered to Sir Stirling's requirements. He is said to have collected to car from Bremen, Germany after its pre-delivery inspection on 24 July 1992, and the car was subsequently registered in the U.K. with the famous '7 SM' plate in August that year.
It has seen had its cylinder heads were overhauled alongside a host of maintenance tasks carried out. The car shows more than 144,000km on its odometer, and comes with 12 main dealer and three specialist service stamps in its book, along with a letter confirming Moss owned the car for four years. The original owner's wallet, handbook and service book accompany the car.
Potential owners looking to inspect the car can view it in person at the Imperial War Museum, in Duxford, U.K. from on Tuesday 18 June.
