The Saab Charity Golf Challenge 2006-Teeing off for a good cause
21 Sep 2006|2,747 views
Saab enthusiasts who are also keen golfers and guests of the Saab fraternity are set for a swinging good time when they gather for the Saab Charity Golf Challenge 2006 in Sentosa on 21 September. The golf event will be held at the island resort's Sentosa Golf Club, Tanjong Course. A shot gun start will signal the start of the challenge at 1.30pm.
The Golf Challenge will not only bring participants lots of fun, it will also bring cheer to the needy as proceeds will go to two chosen charities; The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.
The ST Pocket Money Fund was set up to help children from low income families who attend school without proper breakfast or pocket money to sustain their day in school. Part of today's golf event will alleviate the financial burden faced by parents of these children.
The Budding Artists Fund will help children, between the ages of 8 and 16, who want to develop their artistic talents but are unable to because of economic circumstances. Part of the proceeds for this fund will also be channeled to ChildAid, a children's charity concert, scheduled for November this year.
In addition, an extra fund raising element will be presented, in the form of a 30-piece jigsaw puzzle. Participating golfers are to find the puzzle (hidden inside a Saab 9-3 Convertible) and assemble the complete picture on a metal board beside the car. The total time taken will determine additional donations from Mr Karsono Kwee, the Executive Chairman of Trans Eurokars Pte Ltd.
After the game, participants and guests will be invited to a cocktail reception at 6.30pm and dinner at 7pm. The night's entertainment will include prize giving, games as well as a performance by Mr Nathan Hartono, from ChildAid. Also, there will be the traditional hole-in-one prize of a Saab 9-3 Convertible awaiting the lucky golfer.
Gracing the occasion will be Mr Peter Khoo, Chairman of the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
