The Skoda Kodiaq receives a comprehensive update

Skoda has updated its internationally successful Skoda Kodiaq SUV with an even more refined and striking design language.

With its redesigned front and hexagonal Skoda grille, the Kodiaq now appears even more rugged. The SE and SE L trims feature aluminium-effect trims on the front and rear fascia. A new spoiler design optimises the large SUV's aerodynamics.

The slim LED head lights are available with full-LED Matrix technology as an option. This is a first for the range, and creates a more striking light cluster. Newly designed alloy wheels with a diameter of up to 20 inches have also been added to the choice of extras.

Skoda's designers have also restyled the Kodiaq's bumpers. Aluminium-effect design details on the front and rear apron emphasise the rugged look of the SE and SE L trim levels. The body-coloured, sculptured front apron features a crystalline, mesh-effect air inlet in the lower section, with L-shaped finishing touches on the sides that look like air curtains. The SE and SE L variants feature an aerodynamically optimised, black-grained front spoiler with an aluminium-effect trim as standard.

The taillights are sharper and slimmer than before, and feature full-LED technology as standard. Dynamic indicators are standard throughout the range. The tail lights are characterised by crystalline structures and the Skoda's signature C-shaped light cluster.

Inside, The Skoda Kodiaq can now be equipped with ergonomic seats with multiway electric seat adjustment, taking comfort and ergonomics to a new level. They are covered in perforated leather, can be heated and ventilated, and offer a massage function. The powered seats feature an integrated memory function, saving personal settings at the touch of a button.

The Skoda Kodiaq's interior is spacious and has a high-quality feel with many luxurious details. This includes new contrasting grey stitching that runs horizontally across the entire width of the dashboard and the door trims. The dashboard and doors are adorned with new brushed aluminium-effect or linear-diamond-design decorative strips, depending on the variant specified.

The LED ambient lighting with an extended range of functions now illuminates the footwell in one of the ten colour options, while the storage compartments in the front doors are illuminated in white.

Knurled wheels and control buttons on the redesigned steering wheel allow for easy access to numerous functions, without the driver having to take their hands off the steering wheel. With Hands-on Detect for the steering wheel, the car is able to check at regular intervals whether the driver hands are in contact with the steering wheel, identifying a potential medical emergency.

The Bolero infotainment system and the Amundsen navigation system in the refreshed Skoda Kodiaq feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The system can be operated via the touchscreen, and buttons and knurled wheels on the multifunction steering wheels, or by using Laura, the digital voice assistant, which can understand 15 languages.

Under the bonnet, the Skoda Kodiaq features five different petrol and diesel engines, with power output ranging from 148bhp, to 241bhp in the Kodiaq vRS.

Numerous technical solutions make the latest generation EVO diesel engines incredibly efficient while ensuring low emissions. They are equipped with an advanced SCR exhaust gas treatment system, and using the 'twin dosing' method, AdBlue is injected in front of the two SCR catalytic converters, nitrogen oxide emissions are reduced far below the specified limits.

Similarly, weight-optimised crankshafts and modifications to the turbo, injection and thermo‑management systems result in lower fuel consumption. The more powerful engine units incorporate lighter aluminium pistons. As a result, the EVO-generation petrol engines are more efficient than their predecessors. Active Cylinder Technology on the 1.5-litre TSI automatically shuts down two cylinders when engine load is low, reducing fuel consumption further.

In terms of safety, the updated Kodiaq offers improved assistance systems and safety features, as well as nine airbags, offering occupants exceptional protection. Travel Assist incorporates assistance systems including Predictive Cruise Control, Adaptive Lane Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Under the Travel Assist system, images from the camera on the windscreen as well as data from the navigation system adjust the car's speed when approaching speed limits or corners. 

Area View provides an overview of the car's immediate surroundings when parking or manoeuvring. For this purpose, four cameras create a 360-degree image around the vehicle, which is shown on the central display. The Park Assist feature takes over the steering when driving in and out of parallel and bay parking spaces.
