Toyota Alabama plant to get solar power

Toyota Motor Manufacturing in the U.S.A has announced that up to 70% of the power needs of its Alabama plant will soon be supplied by the sun.
The move comes courtesy of a new agreement between Huntsville Utilities, Toyota Alabama and Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. that sees the purchase of a 30MW solar project.
The solar plant will be located at the North Huntsville Industrial Park that surrounds the Toyota engine plant, and is expected to generate a total of 62,000MWh annually, enough to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 22,000 metric tons per year. The plant will aid in Toyota's goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its operations globally by 2035. The solar facility is scheduled to begin generating solar energy by mid-2024.
