Toyota has unveiled the first details of two concepts set to make their debuts at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
The first, a new all-electric Land Cruiser concept named the Land Cruiser Se, is said come with an elegant and stylish exterior, and to offer the high torque unique to electric vehicles.
Toyota states that this Land Cruiser Se will sport a comfortable cabin space thanks to its electric drivetrain, and that the concept makes use of a monocoque body for responsive handling and to instil confidence in the driver when tackling rough terrain. You'll note the concept also makes use of cameras in place of the conventional rear-view mirrors.
At 5,150mm long and 1,705mm tall, this new Land Cruiser Se is longer but shorter than the new Land Cruiser unveiled in August 2023.
Also set to be displayed at the exhibition is a mid-size pickup truck concept, simply addressed as the EPU. As with the Land Cruiser Se, the Toyota EPU concept makes use of a monocoque body, this time to deliver the necessary durability expected of a pickup.
The Toyota EPU concept looks set to get some large interior screens (with a gear selector toggle placed in between), as well as a yoke steering wheel
The concept measures in at 5,070mm long, and comes with a double cab design, allowing it to meet a wide range of user applications. The quiet operation of its electric drivetrain is said to combine with a low centre of gravity to give the EPU superior handling stability and ride comfort.
Toyota states that the rear of the cabin of the EPU is also linked to its decked, further allowing it to support a wide range of mobility lifestyles, including outdoor activities.
