Well either way Volkswagen has confirmed that its 2013 Beetle will get the drop down treatment and will be revealed at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show happening in late November. While Volkswagen hasn’t released official pictures yet, we can expect the convertible bug to be inspired by the all-electric E-Bugster minus the flared fenders, speedster windshield and the two-seat configuration.
The Bugster will be offered in three powertrains for North America. A naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre five-cylinder, a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a diesel burning turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder. No EV or hybrid powertrains have been announced. A rumour around the web is a retro trim by VW that aims to bring back the nostalgia feel of the Fifties to the Seventies era to the interior of the car.
