Volvo takes ownership of infotainment developer
15 Aug 2024|160 views
Volvo has announced that it will take full ownership of HaleyTek, a Gothenburg-based developer for Android-powered infotainment systems.
The car manufacturer already owned 60% of the developer, prior to this new transaction, but is now purchasing the remaining 40% held by global mobility technology company ECARX. Volvo states the acquisition will serve as a strategic step as it further strengthens its technological capability in software development and continues to take ownership over the technologies crucial to its future products.
HaleyTek will continue operate as a standalone company, with its operations in its Gothenburg facilities, and continue collaborating seamlessly with Volvo Cars and ECARX on developing automotive software based on Android.
