'Wealthy' client fails to smuggle Koenigsegg Agera R BLT through Chinese customs

When you see news of clients putting up special orders to have their supercars customised to be more exotic, you naturally associate that person to be along the extravagant line, not afraid to splash the cash to get what they want. However, if you read the following news, you would know that isn't always the case, at least not entirely so.

Apparently, a wealthy Chinese client had ordered a one-off Koenigsegg Agera R BLT around a month ago and never got to drive his new ride because the supercar never made it through the Chinese customs. It was reported that this wealthy client and owner of the Koenigsegg Agera R BLT attempted to smuggle the supercar to avoid the steep import tax. Bad timing (not that there was ever a good one for illegal smuggling), as the country is now driving a major anti-smuggling campaign and this seemed like just the perfect sacrificial piece to create anti-smuggling awareness.

Apparently the pre-tax cost of this supercar is US$2.35 million (approx S$2.85 million) while other sources sugget that the final price tag including tax amounts to US$4.7 million (S$5.7 million).
