Maserati has revealed its new Grecale SUV.
The Masearti Grecale is 4,846mm long, 1,670mm tall, and 2,163mm wide, making it similar in dimensions to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. It can also be had as a performance-oriented Trofeo variant which has the likes of even the BMW X3 M Competition and the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S challenged (but more on that later).
On the exterior, the Maserati Grecale is said to have been inspired by the MC20 supercar. The Grecale thus gets a front grille positioned low on the car, sporting the Maserati Trident in the centre. And at the rear are slim taillights alongside a sporty diffuser at the rear, finished in carbon fibre on the Trofeo variant.
Step inside the cabin of the Maserati Grecale and you'll also notice that the traditional gear selector has been replaced with buttons on the centre console.
The move, Maserati states, has been done to better facilitate interactions between the driver and passenger, as well as for easier interaction with the Maserati Intelligent Assistant, a virtual butler integrated with Amazon Alexa, activated via voice commands that is housed within a new digital clock that sits high on the dashboard, in place of the traditionally analog one.
Providing driving information here is a 12.3-inch customisable digital cluster, while a second 12.3-inch screen will serve as the infotainment display. Below this second screen rests a third, 8.8-inch comfort display that houses the controls for the air-conditioning and other features. This screnn can be controlled via smart gestures.
And speaking of entertainment, the Maserati Grecale can also be had with a 14 or 1,200W, 21-speaker Sonos faber 3D sound system. And on the practical front, the SUV will also come with a 570-litre boot, alongside what the firm claims is best-in-class rear space.
Local shoppers will most likely opt for the GT variant of the Grecale, which will get a 296bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid drivetrain, should the car arrive here in Singapore.
However, those wanting more performance will be looking out for the Modena and Trofeo variants. The Modena will utilise the same two-litre four-cylinder unit, but deliver a total of 325bhp.
However, the Maserati Grecale Trofeo will utilise the same V6 as found in the MC20. An output of 523bhp will see it completing the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds. For reference, that's more than the 503bhp both the aforementioned German rivals produce.
Maserati has additionally confirmed that an all-electric Folgore variant of the Grecale will also be launched come 2023. No information on this drivetrain has been revealed as yet other than the fact that it will utilise a 400V architecture.
The Maserati Grecale will be produced at the firm's Cassino plant in Italy.
