Maserati has taken the all-electric prototype GranTurismo Folgore to the streets of Italy for the first time. The prototype car was driven by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares through Rome prior to the 2022 Rome E-Prix.
The new GranTurismo will be the first Maserati model to be powered by an all-electric drivetrain. Made at the Mirafiori production hub, it is scheduled to make its international market debut come 2023.
Maserati states the new GranTurismo will retain characteristic Maserati sound while offering cutting-edge technical solutions and superb performance alongside the comfort and elegance, all typical of the Trident.
The marque has recently announced that it plans to have an electric option across its lineup by 2025, and to become an all-electric brand by 2030. This schedule, Maserati states, will make it the first Italian luxury car marque to produce only electric vehicles.
