Thomas Schafer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Head of the 'Volume' brand group, has been appointed as Chairman of Skoda Auto's Supervisory Board with effect from 15 July.
This move has been taken to place further emphasis and accelerate cooperation within the firm's Volume Brand Group, which comprieses of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Skoda, Seat, Cupra and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, in order to leverage synergy potential with the main goal of reducing costs and complexity.
Skoda is responsible for emerging markets such as India and North Africa at the group level and is also in charge of the development of the next generation VW Passat and Skoda Superb. Its responsibility for the MQB-A0 Global Platform is a testament to how strongly the brand is established within the Group.
