  • The BMW 3.0 CSL is back in 552bhp form matched with aggressive aero

BMW M has presented its most exclusive special model, the 3.0 CSL, which embodies the essence of 50 years of racing passion.

BMW has released the 3.0 CSL, which was developed with the intention of combining five decades of racing expertise from BMW M in a single car.

The 3.0 CSL will be produced in a strictly limited edition. To mark the anniversary, exactly 50 consecutively numbered units of the special model will go on sale. The production of all vehicles will take around three months.

Only 50 units of the 3.0 CSL will be made
The limited edition BMW possesses air deflection elements, powerfully shaped wheel arches, a rear spoiler and numerous other details that are inspired by the design of the original 3.0 CSL from the 1970s.

At the centre of the 3.0 CSL is the distinctive BMW kidney grille with a lattice-shaped insert in a diamond structure. Its upright position relates to the front design of its historic ancestor.

BMW Laser Light head lights shine in yellow, both during the welcome scenario after unlocking the doors and when the low and high beams are activated.

The car produces 552bhp and 550Nm of torque from its straight-six engine
The straight-six engine was developed exclusively for the 3.0 CSL, producing a maximum output of 552bhp and 550Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful six-cylinder engine to ever exist in a road-going BMW M car.

The straight-six engine is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox, with precisely defined gear shift travel to enable precise gear changes.

The 3.0 CSL also features CFRP components on almost all bodywork sections. For example, the roof, bonnet, boot lid, front and rear aprons are made entirely of carbon.

The interior of the 3.0 CSL possesses a sporting vibe with black Alcantara seat surfaces and an M Alcantara steering wheel
The front and rear side panel attachments, side sills, rear diffuser, rear wing, and rear spoiler are also made of CFRP. All carbon components are manufactured in small series, mostly by hand and exclusively for the 3.0 CSL.

The roof spoiler of the 3.0 CSL is made of glass fibre reinforced plastic. The titanium rear silencer of the 3.0 CSL is also around 4.3kg lighter than a conventional steel component. The cast aluminium precision struts in the engine compartment, which connect the suspension strut domes to each other and to the front end, have a geometry that has been precisely matched to the forces acting in different driving situations.

On the interior of the 3.0 CSL are black Alcantara seat surfaces and M seat belts, combined with an M Alcantara steering wheel, and an anthracite roof liner.
