Bentley is taking yet another move to raise its sustainably portfolio with the ground breaking of its new Launch Quality Centre and Engineering Technical Centre.
To mark the start of construction at the site, Peter Bosch, Member of the Board for Manufacturing and Dr. Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for R&D, signed a key structural column - one of 101 such columns in the building.
The new centre is key to Bentley's 'Beyond 100' strategy, which will see it reinvent its entire product range to support an electrified future The new centre is said to be integral to the marque as it prepares to manufacture its future Battery-Electric Vehicles. Bentley states that the start of production for these new generation of vehicles will begin in 2026.
To this end, the buildings at the centre will sport a replica BEV assembly line, as well as a software integration centre, prototype workshop, metrology testing and a dedicated area focusing on future materials development.
Once completed, the new centre will house the Launch Quality Centre at its first two floors, with the first playing host to the firm's Metrology team, responsible for maintaining the quality, performance and longevity of every luxury car that comes off the production line. The second floor, meanwhile, will host a production proving ground, comprising a laboratory for future materials testing and a mini assembly line to test future BEV assembly.
The Engineering Technical Centre will also be located across two floors. Here, a prototype workshop for models of the future, materials development and a software integration centre will all sit.
The Launch Quality Centre and Engineering Technical Centre will be home to approximately 300 Bentley colleagues when it is completed, which is currently scheduled to happen by the end of 2023.
