Winner: Volkswagen Polo 1.4 (148 votes)
Runner-up: Honda Jazz 1.3 (103 votes)
Third Place: Renault Clio 1.6 (10 votes)
It’s relatively late introduction in the middle of November hasn’t dampened the confidence the general motoring public has over VW’s newest addition to their 2009 line-up. With its more daring looks and superior interior fitting and design, the Polo trumped the perennial favourite, the Honda Jazz (103 votes).

Winner: Volkswagen Scirocco (120 votes)
Runner-up: BMW Z4 (64 votes)
Third Place: Kia Cerato Koup (40 votes)
Fourth Place: Audi A3 Cabriolet (23 votes)
Fifth Place: Lexus IS-C (16 votes)
Predicted by the editorial team to win the category, the Scirocco has seen a rebirth of its greatness with the 2009 version. Strong lines and sensual curves accentuate the car giving it a wider and lower stance than its GTI sibling. With supply unable to keep up with the demand of the car around the world, expect to see more of the Scirocco prancing on our roads in the next couple of months.

Winner: Honda Odyssey (125 votes)
Runner-up: Toyota Wish (79 votes)
A surprise considering the earlier generation Toyota Wish topped the sales charts in Singapore despite not being carried by Borneo Motors. This year it seems the Odyssey has trumped the Wish with its futuristic looks and a powerful 2.4-litre VTEC at its heart.
![]() |
Winner: Kia Cerato Forte (134 votes)
Runner-up: Mazda6 (71 votes)
Third Place: Skoda Octavia (57 votes)
Fourth Place: Chevrolet Cruze (40 votes)
Another predictable result, the Kia Cerato Forte came out on top against strong competition from the likes of the relatively new entrant, Chevrolet Cruze and the Mazda6. Surprisingly though is the fact that more people seem to think the Skoda Octavia is a better family sedan than the Cruze. Not only is the Cruze popping up in every neighbourhood car park, there doesn’t seem to be enough Octavia’s around to justify its position in this poll.
![]() |
Winner: Mercedes-Benz E-Class (146 votes)
Runner-up: Skoda Superb (67 votes)
This is hardly unexpected considering the E-class has been an executive favourite for as long as anyone can remember. Judging from the votes, it seems the Superb will have to work a little harder to achieve greater notoriety in the new year.
![]() |
Winner: Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S (89 votes)
Runner-up: Mercedes-Benz S-Class (56 votes)
Third Place: BMW 7-Series (50 votes)
Powered by a 4.7-litre V8 that’s as evocative as the marque, how can this Italian not win? Lavished with a design that makes the two Germans look rather sedate, there’s no better Limousine out there to rise above the sea of BMWs and Mercs.
![]() |
Winner: Nissan GTR (108 votes)
Runner-up: Audi R8 V10 (65 votes)
Third Place: Lamborghini LP560-4 (56 votes)
Fourth Place: Volkswagen Mk6 Golf GTI (29 votes)
This is perhaps the most predictable winner in all the categories. A lively 3.6-litre twin-charged powerplant coupled with a chassis that was bred on the treacherous Nurburgring circuit, how could this not be a winner? Not only does it deliver performance that threatens Porsche’s Turbo, it does it all at half the price! This car is sure to go down in history as one of, if not the most legendary Godzilla to ever leave the shores of Japan.
