Ferrari is celebrating their 20th anniversary of their first ever sale a 348 TS in the Chinese market with the introduction of a special edition 458 Italia.
The special edition is inspired by the Longma (Dragon-horse) theme, described as a fabled winged horse with dragon scales in Chinese mythology, signifying spirit and vigour. The thick black stripe seen running down the center of the hood is meant to symbolise a racing track and incorporates an image of the dragon. Besides that, all models will wear a unique paint colour known as Marco Polo Red, gold-painted rims and cabin stitched in gold embroidery. Ferrari is marking the occasion with a limited 20 unit production.
The 20th Anniversary Special Edition 458 will be introduced at the opening of the Ferrari Exhibition at the Shanghai Expo Park’s Italian Center. The 900 square metres exhibition will remain open for the next three years and is scheduled to feature the best vehicles from Ferrari’s Maranello Museum.
Ferrari has made custom Ferraris to show in China before. In 2005, they drove two 612 Scagliettis around the third largest country in the world. Also in 2009 they commissioned artist Lu Hao to paint a on-off 599 China in a unique porcelain finish that sold for $1.77 million at a charity auction.
