A rare Ferrari 246 Dino GTS that was previously owned by Peter Grant, the manager of the legendary rock group Led Zeppelin, is going to auction in the U.K.
The right-hand drive car is said to be one of only 235 right-hand drive versions sold to the U.K., and was delivered to Peter Grant in 1973 in a non-standard, non-metallic Rosso Bordeaux exterior finish alongside brown leather upholstery, one of only 114 ordered in this colour specification.
The Ferrari 246 Dino GTS sports period-correct instrumentation and controls, and continues to sport red carpets that were fitted into it in 1988
The car is additionally said to have been owned by Grant for a total of three years, before being pampered throughout its life by various Ferrari specialists. It was during this period that the car received meticulous maintenance including rebuilt suspension and brakes, the installation of a high torque starter motor, and a new header tank and overhauled radiator, all of which have been carefully recorded.
The special Ferrari 246 Dino GTS heading to auction is still finished in an iconic Ferrari hue, a non-metallic deep red colour, alongside period-correct Cromodora alloy wheels and retaining its original, period-correct instrumentation and controls. The car is described as being in a highly usable and well-maintained condition both inside and out, and comes with a carefully curated history file, including original correspondence with the Ferrari factory in Maranello as well as the first logbook bearing Peter Grant's name.
Those interested in in the car are encouraged to register their pre-bids via auction house Car and Classic's auction page here.
