The Straits Times reported that a black car rammed into a road divider on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Sunday night. The accident happened along the stretch of PIE towards Changi Airport, before the Bedok North Ave 3 exit.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said it responded to the accident at 10:20pm.
Administrative executive Alfred Pun, who lives in a HDB block overlooking the PIE, said he heard a long bang and went out to the corridor to take a look. "I saw that a black Nissan on the right most lane had crashed into the divider," Mr. Pun, 26, told The Straits Times.
Photos taken by Mr. Pun showed at least 10 SCDF personnel, whom he said arrived about 10 minutes after the accident, crowding around the vehicle. They took about 20 minutes to extract the driver and his passenger from the car, he said.
SCDF said a man in his 30s was rescued from the vehicle using hydraulic tools. The man and his passenger were taken to Changi General Hospital.
