Acura brings revised NSX to Detroit, shows concept interior

Like the Ferrari F40, McLaren F1 and Lamborghini Countach, a timeless and iconic car to rise from Japan was the NSX in the 1990's. It was capable of providing a performance akin to its Italian counterparts but at a lower price point. As a result, the successor has large shoes to fill. And with reference to just the design, the successor is worthy of the NSX badging thus far. Acura brought a revised NSX to the North American International Show where for the first time, we get to see a concept of the interior.

The exterior of the Acura maintains the traditional supercar design language of low and wide while carrying forward the original dynamic and appealing proportions. In the cabin, the NSX Concept revolves around a 'Human Support Cockpit' theme.
The cabin provides outstanding visibility, an exotic driving position, and a 'Simple Sports Interface' that minimises interior clutter - for minimal distractions between the driver and his machine. However, the overall design of the interior is 'familiar' and offers nothing new to the table.
The Acura NSX will be powered by a mid-mounted V6 engine bundled with Acura's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD contains three motor high performance hybrid systems that combine all-wheel drive with advanced hybrid efficiency. One motor is within the V6 engine while the other two motors drive the front wheels.

"This further evolution of the Acura NSX Concept design is remarkably true to the original concept styling. We're making great progress in delivering on the expectations we created a year ago, with advanced technology that will bring new levels of performance and a unique, dynamic experience to the exotic sports car market," said Mike Accavitti, Vice President of National Marketing Operations.
