Added priority for bus commuters from the 21st of March

The operating hours of full-day bus lanes (those marked in red) will be extended to 11:00pm from the 21^st of March, up from 8:00pm now, The Straits Times reported. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Tuesday that there are 23km of full-day bus lanes which operate from 7:30am to 8:00pm on weekdays and Saturdays and they are located mainly in the city centre.

Separately, two bus stops along Orchard Road will be included in the Mandatory Give Way to Buses scheme from the 21^st of March. They are the first set of bus stops without bus bays in the city that will have this priority scheme, in which motorists have to give way to buses pulling out of bus stops.

One is opposite Mandarin Orchard (bus stop number 09037), and the other is at Midpoint Orchard (bus stop number 09038).

The LTA will determine within six months of implementation the usefulness of this scheme at bus stops without bus bays and whether it should be applied for similar bus stops in other locations.
