All 500 units of the McLaren 675LT Spider have sold out, even though it was only officially revealed on at the start of December. The car's first official outing is a scheduled appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.
Fitted with the same 3.8-litre V8 engine as the coupe, the Spider has a long list of revised mechanicals, including weight-saving components and more efficient turbochargers. It maintains the same 666bhp power output and 700Nm of torque.
The three-piece folding hard-top roof can be operated at speeds of up to 30km/h, and although the Spider weighs 40kg more than the coupe, it is 100kg lighter overall than the 650S Spider.
Despite the usual strengthenings associated with the conversion from coupe to convertible, McLaren said that its carbon tub was strong enough to warrant no additional structure during the convertible's development.
