Kia's all new second generation Cerato Koup comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged GDi engine that boasts an output of 204bhp and 265Nm of torque, making it Kia's most powerful Koup ever.
Its all new styling with 'dynamic muscularity' raises its sporty appeal too. It is now longer, wider and higher with an extended wheelbase of 2,700mm, similar to the Forte K3 and Sorento.
At the front, the Cerato Koup's stance is bold and athletic. The slimmer front grille with a deeper, wider lower air intake, together with the voluminous bumper design and protruding 'lips' below the round fog lamps, give this model a distinctive face.
The profile of the new Koup is further enhanced by the adoption of frameless doors, flush side glazing and 18-inch alloy rims. A carbon-look rear diffuser with dual exhaust tailpipes is also standard for this model.
The driver-focused cockpit places all controls within easy reach. For an enhanced elegant feel, soft-touch materials are applied to the upper door trims, dashboard, door armrests, door centre trim panels and the centre console.
While the front seats continue to offer excellent accommodation, space in the rear of the cabin is further improved, with the headroom (up 28mm), legroom (up 51mm) and shoulder room (up 15mm) all being increased. Its trunk capacity is 433 litres and is among the largest in its class.
Because the B-pillars are further back than in Forte K3, the front seat belts are fitted with extended guides to put them within easy reach of the front seat occupants.
Under the hood, the 1.6-litre turbocharged GDi engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The twin scroll turbocharged engine features low-end torque, responsiveness, instantaneous power delivery and improved fuel economy.
To reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions when cruising at speed, the six-speed transmission features high top-gear ratios and low first-gear ratios that enable drivers to fully enjoy the new Koup's off-the-line performance.
The century sprint on the Koup is 7.4 seconds and the car features an especially sporty exhaust tone between 1,000 to 4,000rpm which is also 10 to 15dB louder than regular models.
Kia's new FlexSteer system, also seen on other Kia models, is available as standard on the new Koup, providing three different settings - Normal, Sport and Comfort - to match driver preference.
The new Kia Cerato Koup is available for bookings and will officially be launched at the end of June.
